Screws For Plastic and Wing Nuts
Screws and Nuts come in all shapes and sizes, some come with wings and some don't some are made for plastic and some for metal. The point here is that you should choose the right tool for the job. Screws for plastic differ from metal screws in that the screw has a rolling thread. Screws for plastic usually are of the forming or cutting type. The forming style of plastic screw are more suitable for plastics that are non brittle whilst the cutting type of plastic screw is great for plastics that are brittle.
Nuts pair up with bolts, for each type of nut you will usually find a male parner, special types of nuts and bolts exist for specific reasons. In general nuts create a fastener with its partner and by applying more torque to the nut you will create a tighter grip between the pair. A six sided nut can be tightened by a spanner matching the outer diameter of the nut, however wing nuts (aptly named for having wing like mechanism attached to the nut) can be tightened by hand. The wings of the wing nut act as a leaver and can apply and reduce torque as neccesary and can be useful in scenarios where quick release is necessary. Wing Nuts for instance have been implemented on many types of bicycle.
Roofing Bolts and Roofing Nuts
Roofing bolts and nuts have been specifically modified to meet the requirements that modern day roofs demand. Most of our roof nuts and bolts are galvanised for instance, galvanised means that our nuts and bolts are zinc coated to help resist corrosion. Galvanised roof nuts and bolts therefore will help make a roof more weather proof and will last longer than ordinary nuts and bolts.
